Ingredients

InstructionsCream together shortening, margarine, one cup sugar, egg and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift together flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Gradually stir into creamed mixture to make a smooth dough. Chill thoroughly. Roll dough in 3/4" balls; place 1.5 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet and flatten with fork. Sprinkle with sugar. Bake in slow oven (325F) 12 to 15 minutes. Remove cookies to racks to cool. Makes about six dozen. |
