1⁄2poundbutter

Instructions

Melt butter over a medium-low heat in a heavy 1-quart saucepan. After it melts, stir occasionally until it starts to brown. Remove from heat before it burns. It should be just a rich nut brown.

Notes

Butter than becomes too dark will lose its flavor and become bitter in taste.
