Ingredients

2cupflour
2⁄3teaspoonbaking soda
3⁄4teaspoonsalt
1⁄4cupvegetable shortening
3⁄4cupbuttermilk

Instructions

Heat oven to 450F.

Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together 3 times. Cut in shortening until mixture is crumbly, then gradually add buttermilk, mixing until smooth. Knead dough lightly on floured surface. Roll to 1/8 inch thick and cut into circles. Bake 10 to 12 minutes.
