Curried Lamb and Pumpkin

2tablespoonvegetable oil
1largeonion (finely chopped)
1 1⁄2poundlean ground lamb
2cuppumpkin (pared & cut into 1/2-inch cubes)
1⁄2teaspoonground cumin
1⁄2teaspoonground coriander
1⁄2teaspooncrushed red pepper flakes
1tablespoonfresh lemon juice


Heat oil in large heavy skillet over medium heat until rippling. Add onion; saute until softened, about 5 minutes. Crumble lamb into pan; saute, stirring to break up lumps, until lightly browned, about 3 minutes. Add pumpkin, cumin, coriander, turmeric, red pepper flakes, and salt to skillet; cook, covered, until pumpkin is tender, about 10 minutes.

Stir in lemon juice; transfer mixture to warm platter. Serve immediately.
