InstructionsGrease and flour a 10-inch tube pan. In a medium bowl cream together the butter and sugar. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. In a separate bowl mix and sift together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and mace. Add the dry ingredients gradually to the cream mixture. Stir in the vanilla, apples, and walnuts to form a stiff batter. Spoon into the prepared pan. Bake in a 325° oven for one hour and 30 min. Cool the pan for 20 min., then remove to a rack. A macaroon type crust forms on the top of the cake. |
