Ranch-Style Sauce (Salsa Ranchera)

1teaspooncoriander seeds (crushed)
2cupsolid packed tomatoes
1smallonion (chopped)
2 serranos chiles


Soak coriander seeds in hot water for 5 min. Strain. Combine water from seeds with tomatoes, onions, garlic, and chiles and mix and electric blender. Add salt. This sauce may be used cold or hot.


This is a good general use sauce – use it for anything from meats and poultry to tacos, tostadas or fried eggs. Careful with the serranos, they are hot!
