Ingredients

1cupketchup
1cupchicken stock (or water)
1⁄4cupvinegar
1tablespoonworcestershire sauce
1tablespoonsugar
1teaspoonsalt
1teaspooncelery seed
3dashhot pepper sauce
4poundspareribs (parboiled)
1largeonion (thinly sliced)
1 lemon (thinly sliced)

Instructions

Combine first 8 ingredients in large saucepan and simmer 30 minutes.

Brush or dunk unseparated ribs into sauce. Place ribs, rounded side down, over hot coals and grill 20 minutes without turning, brushing occasionally with sauce. Turn ribs and brush again.

Place onion and lemon slices on ribs and secure with toothpicks. Continue grilling without turning, brushing frequently with sauce, 20 to 25 minutes, or until ribs are done. Cut into serving portions with scissors.
