Sliced Tomatoes with Olive Oil and Basil

4largered-ripe tomatoes
2tablespoontiny basil leaves (or large basil leaves sliced thin)
1⁄3cupvirgin olive oil
  salt and ground black pepper (to taste)


Wash the tomatoes and basil. Slice the tomatoes 1/4-inch thick and arrange on a platter. Sprinkle the basil leaves over the slices. Pour the olive oil over the tomatoes and let stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Season to taste with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
