Steamed Fresh Green Beans with Water Chestnuts

1poundfresh green beans
1⁄4cupcanned water chestnuts
  salt and ground pepper (to taste)


Wash and trim the beans. Steam until bright green but still crunchy, approximately 8 minutes. Melt butter in a skillet, add the beans and water chestnuts, and saute 3 minutes or so. Season to taste.
